Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience
Discover a classic African animal safari in Kenya with unique touches. Enjoy stays in some of Kenya’s best wildlife viewing regions, from the Maasai Mara to Lewa!
This Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience was designed for a family of four, mom, dad and adult children. This trip was the perfect mix of excitement, and authentic local experiences; the entire family was thrilled with their adventure!
They started their Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience in Nairobi at The Emakoko Private House in the Nairobi National Park for two nights. The lodge is unique blend of luxury and wilderness, nestled on the edge of the park where the family got to experience close encounters with diverse wildlife, including lions, giraffes, and rhinos, just moments away from the bustling city. The lodge provides an intimate connection to nature, allowing visitors to witness the beauty of Kenya’s iconic animals in their natural habitat from the comfort of a serene and stylish retreat.
From there, they continued their Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience and flew to the Mara and onto their camp, Tangulia Mara, owned by two local Maasai. The camp’s ideal location, just north of the Musiara area, allows easy access for game drives around the Musiara Marsh, the short grass plains, and Rhino Ridge, into the Reserve or across the Mara River bridge into the Mara Triangle which is west of the river. Both areas have rich biodiversity and offer prime wildlife and big cat viewing. The family loved staying at the camp and interacting with the owners of the property.
Next, on their Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience, they traveled to Lewa House in the north of Kenya. This is a truly special local gem, offering a friendly, familial atmosphere; jaw-dropping views of the wild surroundings; exceptional black rhino viewing in addition to the other African animals; and opportunities to explore on horseback, camelback, by helicopter, or in a yellow biplane! Our clients loved that their hosts made them feel instantly at home.
At last, their Classic Kenya Family Vacation: The Real Africa Experience came to an end. They enjoyed one last delicious breakfast at camp, then flew to Nairobi to catch their flight home.

Day 3
After breakfast and a transfer to the local Wilson airport, you will fly to the Maasai Mara, known for its vast savannahs teeming with diverse wildlife, including the Big Five, and its deep cultural connections with the Maasai people, offering an unparalleled blend of nature and heritage. Tangulia Mara Camp is a tented safari camp situated on a bend of the Mara River and overlooks the Olotulo-Murt springs and salt lick. With few natural salt licks in the Mara ecosystem, wildlife activity in front of the camp is constant with a variety of animals passing through. You will game drive to your next camp, Tanguila Mara. The camp’s ideal location, just north of the Musiara area, allows easy access for game drives around the Musiara Marsh, the short grass plains, and Rhino Ridge, into the Reserve or across the Mara River bridge into the Mara Triangle which is west of the river. The name Tangulia means “to lead” in Kiswahili and is at the core of the camp’s existence.
