When To Go
Best time to visit:
The best time to visit Mozambique depends on your interests, where you want to visit, and weather. Mozambique has a warm tropical climate, which makes it a wonderful holiday destination. The dry season is considered to be the best time to visit Mozambique and is the peak tourist season. Game fishing takes place year-round as well, but September is the best month for King Fish, as well as the end of the Sailing and Fishing season.
Best time to Dive
Diving takes place year-round, but the conditions on the day may affect your dive. Over 1200 species of fish occur in the waters off the Mozambique coast. Some of the most untouched reefs in the world lie off the coast of Mozambique. The best time to go to Mozambique for diving is during the winter months between May and September. During this time, there is less wind, fewer storms and the current is not as strong. This all increases visibility. Whales are generally seen off the coast from June to October.
Best time to Fish
Fishing is possible all year round with good catches of Tuna and King Fish. Surf and night fishing is good throughout the year. Big game fishing such as Marlin, Sail Fish and Wahoo each has their own season. The Marlin season runs from October to January.
Best time for Bird Watching:
Mozambique may not be considered one of the world’s greatest birding destinations, but its diverse ecosystems are home to over 600 species of birds. In mid-summer between November and February many species can be seen, including rare species of Cuckoo and many migratory species.
